The role of the Altar Server is to assist the Priest and the whole church community in the celebration of the Mass. Posture, reverence, and attitude are very important when serving during Mass. Altar servers assist with the Mass entry procession, set up for communion, and Mass exit procession. They also support and serve during many special liturgies, including: Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Funerals. This ministry promotes dedication and service to the Church and to God. Altar server training is typically in February or March of each year, for grades 4 and higher. Commitment is typically 1-2 masses per month, depending on the number of altar servers who are available each month. The altar server benefits the priest and the whole Church community to celebrate Mass in a reverent and efficient manner.
