The purpose of being an Usher is to provide a warm and sincere welcome to parishioners and guests as they arrive for Mass. Ushers also provide those with any disabilities assistance as needed, such as obtaining the Priest, Deacon, or Extraordinary Ministers to provide Holy Communion. Ushers also provide security for buildings, parking lots, and are prepared to act in case of emergency. Overall duties include opening the outer and inner doors, helping parishioners to find a seat, serving during offerings and communion, distributing bulletins, and wishing parishioners well as they leave. Final duties include making sure that all lights are off and doors are securely locked. Any parishioner 18 years of age and older can obtain training for this ministry.
